There are many different threads of chemistry and related specific methods of chemical synthesis, or underrated substances and reactions between them, for example, the Sabatier reaction, in which methane and water are obtained from carbon dioxide and hydrogen, the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, in which pure fuel for cars is obtained from a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, the Bosch reaction, in which hydrogen is obtained from the reaction of water with coke. The Sabatier reaction catalyzed by ruthenium would find application in the production of fuel for spacecraft and water for living purposes, the methane produced in this reaction is suitable for use in spacecraft and indicates good propulsive properties with a good specific impulse. Mars as a planet has vast amounts of solid and gaseous carbon dioxide, however, hydrogen for the reaction would have to be obtained separately from the decomposition of water, which is also abundant there, but is found in the form of water ice in various regions of the planet, and often just below the surface of the ground. The Sabatier reaction catalyzed by ruthenium is a strongly exothermic reaction, which means that a lot of heat is released, which can also be separated from the reactor and supplied to heat human habitats, especially on Mars where the average temperature throughout the year is around -80 degrees Celsius and even much lower in some places. The Bosch reaction is a reaction that requires appropriate conditions, appropriate pressure, and is catalyzed by, among others, iron oxide, resulting in hydrogen, which can be used for propulsion purposes for all vehicles. The Fischer-Tropsch synthesis is the synthesis of hydrocarbons (e.g., synthetic gasoline) from carbon monoxide and hydrogen, as a result of this synthesis, pure fuels for internal combustion engines can be obtained, not containing sulfur and other undesirable elements, it is also catalyzed by various catalysts and carried out under specific chemical conditions.
